Create a customized printable invitation that suits the floral and elegant theme of a surprise birthday celebration.

In our family, we typically celebrate birthdays with just our family, but we celebrate birthday milestones with a bigger party. So when our mother turned 50, it was up to me and my sister to organize the event. And we made sure we were up for the task. We worked on getting everything ready together. Reserving the venue and the catering service, choosing the cake, deciding the color scheme for the decorations and the invites, the list went on.
I wanted to design the invitation myself, which was actually quite helpful, since it was a surprise party. It made it easier to keep the whole plan a secret.
For the color scheme, since we were celebrating a 50th birthday, which marks the beginning of the golden years in our family tradition, I certainly had gold in mind. I incorporated the florals and the cursive writing to create a more feminine and elegant look. Our mother also liked pink, which I also added to the color palette.
Considering that this was one of the first small projects that I worked on prior to attending SAIT for New Media Production and Design, I felt proud when we finally revealed it to our mother. It also felt quite fulfilling to see that she enjoyed our little surprise for her birthday.
